Joint-School Summer School 2025
Riding on the success in the last two years, the Catholic Society of Maryknoll Convent School (Secondary Section) once again joined hands with Wah Yan College, Hong Kong (WYHK) to co-organise ‘Wah Yee Summer School’, a summer educational programme which served primary school students from Sham Shui Po.
This year, over 40 student volunteers from WYHK and our school designed and taught a variety of courses to provide the primary school students with a joyful learning experience. New interesting courses included ‘Emergency Response and First Aid’, which cultivated in students an awareness towards emergencies and basic first aid skills, and ‘Wilderness Challenge’, which taught essential life skills through games and activities.
The first four days of the summer school (17, 18, 21, and 22 July), which were run in WYHK, followed a routine with an assembly, lessons, and recesses. The last day (23 July) was hosted at our school, concluding the programme with a mini-funfair and a graduation ceremony.
The summer school was a meaningful programme which provided our students with a precious opportunity to serve, acquire useful skills, and experience personal growth. Our students reflected that the learning environment was vibrant, and they learnt how to work together to run a big scale project. They also enjoyed the close bond formed with their students and other volunteers.
